R+P Post 18: Analysis of my track's lyrics and instrumentation

During one of our group meetings we decided to write out the meaning and our interpretation of the lyrics. This was a very useful exercise because it enabled us to underpin the concepts that we want to connote in our music video. Below I have created a neater, typed up version of the lyrics, with our denotations and the time code on either side.

As can be seen above, our analysis picked out the technological message that threads through the whole song, as well as some minor, more subtle connotations. We want to play on the drug-like obsession and the angst that consumes him throughout the song, in order to aid the progression of our video. In addition to the theoretical concepts, our main singers acting must convey this same development.

In our next session we made some more notes on our various different concepts and found some interesting inspiration for our visuals. This information was highly important, but due to its text based nature, it was hard for others understand our ideas. As a result, I decided to create a mood board and by using post-it notes and pictures only, we were all able to constantly add to it and modify it, whilst keeping the text concise.

Our Mood Board.
